Bluff is the ideal place for holidays with the children and grandchildren. There is an large open park opposite The Lazy Fish Bluff and going down to the seafront and a well equipped children’s playground less than a block away. There are sheltered beaches for exploring rock pools and well marked walks to explore the coastal bush and bird life.

Bluff has been continuously settled since 1824 and well signposted historic sites with well documented history of early NZ are all over the town and foreshore and the Maritime Museum is well worth a visit. A trip up Bluff Hill to the Lookout starting from Lee Street is probably better presented to visitors than a trip to Stonehenge or the Pyramids of Egypt thanks to the meticulous work of locals keen to preserve Bluff’s history in the life of early NZ. The local supermarket has supplies of hooks, lines and sinkers for those looking to fish for themselves or a trip to Stewart Island by ferry or helicopter or to Omaui is a pleasant and memorable adventure.

There is an excellent local Library and Post Office as well as internet cafes, restaurants and outdoor picnic tables along the waterfront.
